Philosophy

MISSION

To give students the tools to teach themselves by providing an opportunity to learn as much as they are willing and able to during our study together.

APPROACH

All people are musical. Anyone can learn to sing with confidence. A functional approach to singing, which allows for vocal freedom, and truthful acting are essential to an expressive and communicative performance. Sight-reading and music theory foundations are the tools to building a strong and independent musician.

The independent studio teacher has a responsibility to meet the student at his or her level, wherever that may be. Regardless of skill or experience, all students should be treated with compassion, patience, and love. The voice teacher is a champion who celebrates each student’s individuality not only as a singer but also as a person and fosters this in performance.
