The longer I sing and teach singers, the more I experience singing as a spiritual practice. I’m not sure I have the time or words to expand on this idea here today, but I will someday. Today, I’m thinking about the students who ask me, “Why do you think I am here?”–not because there is an answer but because they don’t have one. Sometimes, I think people find their way to singing, to their voice, because they have something to express that they don’t know how to sound. I’ve witnessed amazing discoveries among my students, and in myself. I am always deeply grateful to share the journey with my students, for however long we’re together.
To those of you who read (or have read) this blog, thank you. Thanks for coming with on this little stretch of my journey. My creative path is taking a turn, and I have to follow the proverbial white rabbit down a different hole. I hope that we will meet again, you and I (it is a rather small world, so chances are good). I may send a missive from time to time, but don’t wait up for me. I gotta go see about a girl I knew once. Stay safe, stay sane, and I’ll see you when I see you. xoxo
