God of Carnage

June 27, 2012

I have not been so excited about a project in quite some time: I’ll be playing the role of Veronica in God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza in a production directed by my friend Craig Joseph this fall. (If you saw the Roman Polanski film adaptation, Carnage, this is the role that Jodie Foster played.) This play is a “comedy of manners . . . without the manners.”

I first became familiar with God of Carnage when I was living in New York City and it was playing on Broadway. The original Broadway cast included Marcia Gay Harden, James Gandolfini, Hope Davis, and Jeff Daniels. I didn’t get the chance to see it before I moved back to Ohio, but I was fascinated by the idea of two couples losing their civility while meeting under the guise of civility all within the confines of a tiny NYC apartment. They get downright ugly. It’s kind of amazing.

Our production will run from October 26 through November 4, 2012, at the William G. Fry Theatre in Canton, Ohio. You can order your tickets here. I hope that you will come and see me get down and dirty with some other super talented actors.
