Today while I was playing with Scarlett, I started thinking about the bits of wisdom I’ve collected over the years that I’d like to share with her as she grows up. I thought about things that my dad has told me over the years, and things that I wish someone had told me sooner. Here are a few of the things that came to mind:
- Always take your make-up off and your contacts out before bed.
- First impressions may not always be right, but your intuition almost always is.
- Always say hello, good-bye, please, and thank you. And smile.
- If a pair of jeans fits in the store, they will be too big after one wear. If you think they’re a little too tight, that’s the right size.
- Get properly fitted for a bra by a fitting specialist. (No, not Victoria’s Secret.) The right size makes all the difference.
- Sometimes it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.
- Don’t put it down; put it away. And clean up spills as they happen.
- No matter what anyone does to you or says about you, don’t talk badly about them. It won’t make them look bad; it makes you look bad.
- Don’t take it personally.
- You truly can do anything, if you put your mind to it.
