How many days this week did you do your morning pages?
I managed to start them every day this week except Friday. (Brian and I spent all day Friday driving to Charlotte, North Carolina for a friend’s wedding.) However, I didn’t finish them on three of those days. Each of those times, I was interrupted by something or someone, and I didn’t get back to them. As I am becoming dependent upon the morning pages for the maintenance of my mental health and sanity, I wore my grumpy pants a little more than usual this week.
Did you do your artist date this week?
Yes, I did. I thought it would be really fun to take a yoga class in Charlotte while we were there. I practice Vinyasa yoga, so I found a class near my friend’s house and dropped in on Saturday morning. The experience was both strange and familiar, and I was happy that I did it. I did, in fact, have lots of fun.
Did you experience any synchronicity this week?
Not really, but I did experience a strong sense of irony when I went to my first book club meeting on the first day of my no-reading week.
Were there any other issues this week that you consider significant for your recovery?
I hated the reading deprivation. Excepting the directions that I read to Brian in the car, I didn’t break it. However, I spent much of the week freaking out and a little angry about not reading. I spent more time practicing my music this week, but Scarlett was not having any of that. She came over to the piano when I started playing and shoved my hands off of the keyboard. We spent a lot of time playing together, but frankly, sometimes I really need a break from the 14 hours we spend together every day, and reading is my go-to activity. Yes, my grumpy pants got a lot of wear this week.
Here’s a picture of me talking with a goat, an animal that also wears its grumpy pants. No big deal.
