Summer Review, Fall Preview

August 30, 2011

Summer seems to be officially over. The weather has cooled every so slightly. Kids and teachers are back in school. Football season has commenced, and I’ve already started on Scarlett’s Halloween costume. Although I absolutely adore autumn, I’m always a little sad when summer is over, mostly due to the grand plans that I had, which never came to fruition. Here are some good things that did happen:

  • Spending time with all of my sisters
  • Going back to NYC for the first time since leaving, seeing my friends
  • Visiting my aunt, uncle, and cousin in Michigan
  • Trying green nail polish and discovering that I love it
  • Summer yoga with Gerbs
  • Diaperpalooza 2: Electric Boogaloo
  • Being a finalist for a collegiate musical-theatre teaching position
  • Joining the cast of a radio variety show
  • Signing with a talent agency
  • New headshots (finally)
  • Starting construction on my voice studio space
  • Connecting with friends, old and new

Also this summer, I was looking for a picture of Brian and me when I realized that we hadn’t taken a photo of just the two of us since 2009. (Read: we only take pictures of our baby now.) So, we remedied the situation. I really love this one.

Here are a few of the things that I’m looking forward to this fall:

  • Getting back on my regular yoga schedule
  • Music and story-time classes for Scarlett
  • Book club
  • A visit from Uncle, AJ, and Bryce
  • Sweaters
  • Lots of loved ones’ birthdays
  • Watching football
  • Trying out Grandma Scharfenberg’s original bread recipe, which she taught me this summer
  • Campfires, s’mores, and cider

I hope you enjoy the last few days of summer, whether it’s grilling out, wearing a sundress, or squeezing in one last road trip. Happy Fall, y’all.
