Nerd alert

Up my nose with a rubber hose. Literally. It's a stroboscope.

Up my nose with a rubber hose. Literally. It’s a stroboscope.

A few weeks ago I attended Oberlin Conservatory’s Symposium for Voice Performance Pedagogy. It was nerdy and magical, and I loved every second of it. I had the opportunity to participate in a master class with one of my vocal pedagogue crushes, Jeanie LoVetri. She helped me navigate the exhaustive, belt-y waters that are “Gimme, Gimme.” I also got to participate in an live, onstage demonstration of the vocal folds in actions, specifically demonstrating the difference between classical and CCM production. That’s me up there with the totally fabulous doctors from the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Abelson and Dr. Milstein. Those are my vocal cords on the computer screen. Like I said, magical. Read more about the weekend here.
